My opinion is that of Deuteronomy 14:23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to identify his proper noun in that location, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that yard mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.  The tithe is for Onetime Testament Jewish believers (Deuteronomy 14:23) to learn to fear the LORD thy God always. This does non bear over to the New Testament believer. We are exhorted by God in II Corinthians 9:7... Every homo according as he purposeth in his middle, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. (No mention of a percentage of earnings in the age of grace.)

In my humble personal stance, the meaning of tithing has to go beyond that of the old testament as we are in the new age of Jesus, who asks us to lay down everything worldly if we are following him. Mayhap in the old times it was to instill fear and awe for God in the minds of early Israelites, hence the per centum was quite specific.   I believe tithing or your giving goes even beyond the church that you attend as the funds are managed according to human made planning. I truly believe whatever you give, whether it's 10-twenty-fifty per centum, it must be a cheerful giving even if less. The amount must exist used for care of the poor, needy & sick and for preaching the gospel, including care for the preachers & missionaries.

Hello anybody, I would like to point out that the bible is a complete book. We don't expect at one function and go out out the rest. Think the New Testament is a fulfillment of the old. Jesus said He did non come up to abolish the police force.... Mal three:x-12 says, "Bring me all the tithes and offerings into my store house that in that location perhaps meat in my house......and prove me herewith if i would not open the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing that yous would not have room enough to contain...." That is the word of God. The tithe is for the house of God. In the old days, the Levites never worked jobs and all; they were paid from the church building and that is the employ of tithes and offerings. Now the Bible also says give and it will be given unto you lot. Information technology doesn't terminate the commandment of tithing. Proverbs 3:ten says, "Accolade the Lord with thy substance and with the showtime fruit of all thy increase. Verse 11 has the promises attached. In Mal 3, God said, "You take robbed me and you ask how?" And the answer was in tithes and in offerings. And then when we don't pay out tithes, we rob God. All of these commands are for the states to consciously acknowledge that our increase and ability to get wealth comes from God who is our source and so giving back to Him shouldn't exist so difficult. Lord Jesus Christ said judgment, mercy and faith from the law are more than important than tithing, but advised that tithe should be paid too. My personal opinion is this:  Because in Gen. 3:17, the basis has been cursed because of human being's sin; every substance or produce that we can become out of the basis is also cursed. Since all our sources of living are coming from the ground, our wealth, money and treasures are besides cursed.   In Mal. 3:xi, there is a devourer that destroys the fruit of the footing. And the Lord Jesus besides considered them as treasures on globe, Mat. vi:19. Vulnerable to destruction (by moth and rust) and robbery - the devourer.  Since the Tithe is holy, equally mentioned in Lev. 27:thirty, the fruit of our labours volition as well become holy when nosotros give our tithe (the 10%) back to God. Moreover, it will protect our 90% from the devourer equally stated in Mal. 3:10-eleven and will open up the gates of heaven to pour out to us much more blessings from God.
