How to reduce glare on glasses?
Hey guys and gals,
I was curious for those of you who record Let's Plays with glasses how you overcome the obstacle of glare on your glasses when recording with a webcam?
Any tips would be appreciated.

I elected to just take them off as I was having the same issue, both with the lights on and reflection off my monitor. That may not be a solution for everyone though as not everyone's eye conditions are equal (I have a little bit of astigmatism in my left eye).

For our face cam stuff I'm lucky enough to be able to see without problems just taking them off. If you can't do that, then make sure your face cam is at an angle to your monitor so the light isn't bouncing straight off them. Beyond that I don't have many ideas for you.

Glare from the screen will be unavoidable unless you angle the camera differently. Glare from lights should be easily avoidable because you can move the light.

I don't use webcams, but I assume it's as simple as physics 101 and if you set up a proper angle you should be able to avoid reflections.

It's hard to record w/ glasses. If you have decent enough vision or contacts, use those. I don't have those, and on my one series I just play the game on another monitor that's relatively far away from my face and turn off my main monitor.

you might want to use contacts if it bothers. can try other glasses too. not much you can do past that. That's not to say you cant use it to your advantage. can try darken the room and see if it looks cool in an anime t ype of way :)

Mate, glass glare in webcam footage would be the least of my worries. At the very worst it will make you look smart. Try turning down your monitor backlight too.

In my experience, lighting is important. And the position of your screen. Try placing your screen higher, or repositioning your camera.

If you're using production lights: Point them at the wall or a white sheet to soften the light. Desk lamp: Same as above.
If it's bedroom lights: Readjust your location if possible. If not, try to find a way to soften the light with a piece of paper or something similar.
Monitor glow: You look like Gendo, don't sweat that shit.

I have a simple solution (since I need my glasses and hate contacts)! Simply tilt the glasses down slightly and boom, bye bye glare!
I do it on all my videos even when I'm not wearing the headphones during couples coop. You can see the frame slightly higher than my ears.
Hope this trick helps!

Next time you go to the optometrist ask about anti reflective coating for your lenses! They're great! or you can order some online if you have your prescription :D

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll see about working on angling my camera or glasses. I'll definitely invest in anti glare for my glasses when I get the chance.

Get rid of the webcam ... kidding. If you can, just don't wear them during recording. Or if you want to go for the "anime glasses" look, rub grease on them.

just turn off all the lights
